ARC Caval: A Blend of Art, Geometry, and High-End Fashion

Golden A' Design Award Winner Nour Abuzaid's Unique Approach to Footwear Design

The inspiration for ARC Caval comes from the arche-type, the original pattern from which a spectrum of designs are manifested. Envisioned by the architect of designs, ARC Caval is a blend of a stainless semblance with an invincible knightress spirit. The design is part of a wider spectrum that combines the minimalism of geometric shapes with raw textures.

What sets ARC Caval apart is its unique combination of art, geometry, and high-end fashion. The design preserves the element of rawness in its execution, manifested through the neat and delicate feel of the shoe and its overall look. The shoes are handcrafted with Plane Jane construction, made of Black Calf Leather, Italian Black Suede, Chemical-Free Leather Lining, and Leather Outsole.

ARC Caval represents "slow fashion" through a combination of quality and novelty in abstract design. Slow fashion is a response to mass production that results in lower quality, often banal trends, and damage to nature. Hence, the shoes promote healthy consumerism using sustainable materials and offer the exclusive feel of luxury to a larger audience sharing the values of slow fashion.

The project started in March of 2017 in Istanbul, and the ARC collection was exhibited in the Aymod international shoes fair in April. The project is still ongoing mainly through the online store and website. The design process involved the deliberation of the three essential elements of the shoe: natural, abstract, and elegant. This required balancing the proportions of the design itself, as well as paying attention to the chosen materials in terms of texture, colors, and quality, to achieve a satisfying appeal of aesthetics.

ARC Caval was awarded Golden in A' Footwear, Shoes and Boots Design Award in 2018. Golden A' Design Award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
